about archaos

archaos was founded in 1999 by the two student representatives on RIBA Council who saw that there was a need to create a society which represented students and give them a means of communication with the RIBA.

this is society is for and organised by students. it's success depends on the communication between all students, at every academic level. we therefore value the opinions of students and encourage communication and the expression of ideas.

the aims of archaos

Membership of archaos is automatic and free to all students of architecture in the U.K. Student representatives will be elected to chair archaos and act as mediators between the students, professional bodies and the press.

archaos aims to be as transparent and accountable as possible, with an open agenda reflecting the current mood in Schools of Architecture.

The society has direct links to students in every School of Architecture in the UK and so is in a powerful position to encourage discussion and experiment with any initiatives.

Through archaos’ web site we aim to initiate a medium through which students of architecture can have a voice at a professional level through the RIBA Council and the press.

archaos will chair conferences over the course of the academic year which will complement the web site acting as think-tanks for policy and agenda.
