Traditionally, the student rep has had an image of being either an illusive figure or an isolated gung-ho individual going off on tangential causes. Reps, however, are an essential part of forming a student network, both within and between schools. Given adequate support they can be an important point of contact for individual students, empowering students by reducing the sense of isolation they can have.
The archaos Student Network at present comprises local reps, one in each School of Architecture, and national reps who sit on a range of committees within the RIBA and the RIAS, and are involved with groups like Women in Architecture, Architects for Change and Young Practitioner's in Practice.
Our aim is to set up a support system that every student can plug into via our forums (which are free and open to anyone) and through our website.
