the manifesto for the future forum aimed to set out a student manifesto for future of architectural education, discussing:

1. IN THE FUTURE: How should we as architecture students be interacting with the larger world? Should architecture students be able to provide a public service? Is our work relevant to the public? How could it benefit the public? Should it?

2. IN THE FUTURE: What will be the job description of an architect? Is there one? Should there be just one title- 'Architect'- for the many roles an architect takes? What are we being educated to do- and is it the same thing as what we will do? Should we be 'specialising' in the parts of architecture we are interested in- and should we do this before or after we qualify?

3. IN THE FUTURE: Is the role of architect a local, national or international job? Should architecture offices be in one country or spread across many? Should architecture have a local style- or an international style?

4. IN THE FUTURE: How should architecture be taught? Is the studio a useful tool? How involved with other professions- or clients- should education be? How much is about teaching knowledge- and how much about teaching skills? Should architecture be taught in Universities or on the job?

5. IN THE FUTURE: What should the demographic of architecture be? If we want to change the demographic, how do we manage that? How can we attract school-leavers to architecture? How do we make it more attractive to women etc?

this culminated in an open discussion panel with invited guests
