feedback from the forum:
Everyone at Archaos,
Had an interesting time to say the least. Some of the events were shocking like the fact that on avarage we'll only get paid 11,500 on our placement year - it helped to bring home underlying issues such as top-up fees. It was encouraging to see that there was still light at the end of the tunnel with architects and other students standing up, telling us about architecture as a rewarding career. Listening to the opinions of others at the forum has really inspired me, and given me ideas to improve things here - for that I am extremely thankful.
Thanks!

Dear student reps,
I hope you all had an enjoyable time in Newcastle and found the forum both interesting and though provoking. We had an amazing response and were very please with the amount of debate that took place during the day. At present we are compiling a report of the forum and would be grateful with any feedback you give us. It could merely be a few words via email. We look forward to hearing back from you and stay tuned for more info on archaos. If anyone would like to get involved more with archaos please feel free to contact myself or one of the other chairs. I look forward to hearing from you,
Mo Bala.
Fistly I would like to thankyou for the invite to the Archaos Conference, I was unaware of the organisation until I received the invite.
Secondly, my collegue and I found the conference both informative and reassuring that students accross the board were experiencing similar problems and obstacles as we were. We will be organising a presentation so all students in our school can have their say and you receive views from a wide a range of people as possible.
Personally, I think that it is an excellent way of bringing each school of architecture up to speed with the latest issues in architecture so we all have an understanding on how they effect us all. Once we have had our presentation I will contact you with a summary of all the opinions and views that we have collected.
I have also downloaded a copy of the survey and will pass that onto the relevant students. Could you please sent me details of membership to Archaos, as i would like to be more involved with the future of our chosen profession. (ed- membership is free and automatic, please keep sending us emails of issues you would like us to follow up, or experiences you would like to share)
Yours,
Rachel Brookes

I thouroughly enjoyed the forum in Newcaslte and I thank you and archaos for making it all possible. It was an amazing event. I have yet to organise a talk to my school about the forum but i can ensure you it will happen in due course.
Although the speakers at the forum provided us with a very optimistic view of the future, I still feel that the financial problems that students are forced to undertake in the United Kingdom are not justifiable. I feel that the RIBA can provide the voice in this matter, but only if they begin to recognise the direction that architecture would take if less excelled students are to join this proffesion which is apparent due to the extra financial burden taken on compared to other proffessions.
I also think it would be wise to engage the matter now that it is still a fresh subject and not allow it to be shoved under the carpet.
As for other matters, I think the Archaos Website is a great means for keeping everyone connected.
Thanks Again,
Mark G Physsas, student rep. canterbury school of architecture
