A MOVING TARGET With new spatial conditions evolving as you read (and who knows what in thirty years time) education can no longer be founded on permanent values or fixed knowledge. The only certainty is the radical contingency of future practice. Education must aim at moving targets. This demands that the inculcation of knowledge is replaced by the development of judgment, that the emphasis on the product as the pinnacle of education is replaced with an understanding of processes, and that the notion of tutor powered teaching is replaced with student empowered learning (because it the students who will have to face that contingency). All these bring with them a new set of architectural values.
